The dream is to be in a position every year to simply take the BPA based on positional value. But that requires having a franchise QB who makes you a contender every season. And that’s something the Vikings (checks notes) have not had in about 50 years.
I tend to agree with the idea that you should spend your first round picks on the expensive positions, but you definitely see teams reach on guys just because they play edge or WR. For this draft, I would definitely take Tyson if he was available, but not sure about the other guys. Assumed Tate would be gone until recently, so haven’t watched much of him. I really like Bernard or Skyler Bell in the 2/3, so I’d be inclined to wait if Tyson isn’t there. If you take safety or any other non premium position, you do have to be really sure the guy is far and away the BPA and a game changer.
Well, no. The Raiders are paying Nailor on the hope that he makes the leap to at least a WR2. That’s not the market for WR3s anymore than Willis set the market for backup QBs at $45.
There is a lot of value in taking a WR in the first round generally, but the 2026 Vikings don’t present an opportunity for a rookie WR to start. In a world where JA wasn’t an idiot, he could traded for good value and then WR makes complete sense, absent an offer to get another no 1 in 2027.
