I like your thought process of passing on an IOL in the first and taking and Edge instead.

I don’t like the idea of an IOL in the first (maybe after pick 24)

Regardless if they keep Cousins or not Quarterback should be their first priority in the first round even if they have to move up to pick Pickett or Willis.

I would argue most people don`t really understand what Spielman`s draft strategy was in terms of pick accumulation (this is not a discussion of actual players taken)...In the first 2 rounds while he was an active trader. he frequently moved up (clearly his last trade was the Darrisaw trade) but he traded up to get Cook and Teddy for example... Where he did trade down was from the back end of the 3rd round and on. If you look at the Rich Hill https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart-Rich-Hill.asp you can then compare to the classic Jimmy Johnson model. It shows that Rick picked up a lot of draft value by trading down (basically they are all lottery picks with 1/6 chance of getting value out of them. So owning 6 of them (5th to 7th rounders) is better than owning 3 of them....

Rick did not trade 1st and 2nd round picks to own the entire 7th round (even though some fans seem to think that). For all of his faults, this strategy was not one of them
