Jalen Redmond might be a top five most intriguing player for me. He showed some really impressive flashes last year on a decent number of snaps. More evidence than you usually get that a guy is going to be really good. Green Bay Supper Clubs got an audible laugh from me. Shout out to Indianhead Supper Club on Balsam Lake.
Agreed that Darnold on this roster is much more of a sure thing. Potential is something that hasn’t happened yet and may never happen. Bears fans were not exactly expecting 5-12 last year.
But. The payroll this year is $350, and if Darnold were here that’s another $38 added to it. It seems highly unlikely there was any scenario where Darnold would have been retained *and* KAM makes all of the same other signings. Presumably, that factor was a key part of KAM’s strategy.
Great pull, Matthew. I loved and truly miss John Clayton. I think he’s still doing Seattle radio. May I suggest trying to get him on the pod before the Vikings play the Seahawks?
@rognord There's a 5-8 in West Saint Paul on Robert Street just minutes away that has never let me down. Union 32 is across from one of the entrances to the property on Dodd Road (self pour beer, American bar food). Depending on where you're coming from, taking a couple minutes to enter Inver Grove Heights will open up options such as Jersey's (great burgers and apps), Mallard's (seafood), and Cahill Diner (old fashioned breakfast-lunch place).
Andre Smith has a grievance here. He started 98 games in the NFL. He and Remmers are in a different tier and are much better than Oli Udoh, Rashod Hill and Sirles.
But yes, one just entered the concussion protocol because of reading the other four names.

Man, that is one nasty OL to imagine
OL: Dru Samia, TJ Clemmings, Danny Isidora, Andre Smith, Ed Ingram
My body is getting bruised just thinking about it.

I think Udoh was pretty competent as a swing tackle. He was not meant to be a guard though.
That's fair. But, however one ranks the swing tackles, as group they should be in a lower tier than the guys who were starters for a number of years.
If the Vikings make the playoffs look out. McCarthy will have the experience he needs by then and they will be tough to beat.
