Came back to this after the Banks pick. Not encouraging, man. Hopefully it works out but feels like a huge swing for the fences when the pitcher is doing an intentional walk.
Drafting a guy higher (akin to paying him more) doesn't make him any better.
Now, if there aren't good trade options, we can all agree that making a pick >>> failing to get it in on time. But, it would be preferable to take someone with more positional value and upside than less. None of these DT candidates suggest being good risks to take in round 1.
Those PFF grades match the tape I watched pretty well. Nobody really stood out at that position as a guy I’d pound the table for in the first round. I’ve been avoiding DT altogether in a lot of mocks and just signing DJ Reader in the back of my mock brain. If you think Brandel can get by at C for a year and you really like a mid round DT a lot more than you like the Cs available there, then go ahead and take one there. Wouldn’t surprise me if they did that after letting both of the old guys go.
Three cheers for Derrick Brown. I appreciated these defensive insights.
Well done.... Pick a DB (hopefully after a trade back) and worry about DT in round 2 or 3... I wonder if the foot injury has Banks drop to 49......
