Hunter is a free agent after this year, trade him....build for the future.

I would rather not trade Hunter and extend him at the end of the year. Give him the mega deal he deserves and make him part of this rebuild, he's still young enough. I doubt you find a player of his caliber in the draft with the returns he gets in a trade and would just unnecessarily open another gap in our defense as you illustrated.

The return matters, of course. However, nothing is shinier than an unused draft pick. I’m old enough to remember the massive haul when the Raiders traded Mack and turned those picks into JAGs and busts.

For a player this good, at this age, at this position, the moment you trade him you create a massive hole in your roster, which usually takes a lot more draft capital than any likely trade return to fill.

If your buddy sells his house and buys bitcoin, it sounds nice and full of promise, except now he doesn’t have a place to live.

No less than a second round pick for Hunter. I think they should keep him.

I am torn, On one hand I want to resign him for 3 more years, on the other hand if someone was willing to give up a first or second that would be great

I am sure they will mess it up because the Wilf`s hate to be bad... Even if it prevent delicious goodness down the road. My guess is Kwesi would love to sell. But unless the Wilf`s are cool with it it will not happen.

But yeah we have a bunch of assets that could get us a lot of assets (though admittedly not too many high picks)

But we really do need a lot of picks

If we study the previous behaviors of ownership, they'll keep him and want to try to compete this year. We'll see another meh season, followed by another and another. I've been a fan for too many years to expect anything else. Don't get me wrong: I love the Wilfs and think they are good owners. I just don't personally agree with their philosophy in general when it comes to this. They've always seemed to want to emulate the Steelers in their methodology.
