I’ll put Murray at an 80% chance to start week 1, and 30/70 to start next year. My guess would be they prefer to sign him to a shorter deal and draft a QB on top of that, but Murray probably plays well enough to walk and sign a longer deal elsewhere.

I would be at 95/05 Murray is the week 1 starter. and 55-45 as the long term starter He seems like he is working hard and getting along with team mates. He is the starter unless JJM magically becomes excellent. And part of the problem with JJM last year was that he looked pretty decent in practice and then not so much on the field.

As for the longer term, KM has been about QB12-15 on crappy teams. Would not be shocked to seem him be top 7-10 under KOC.

That said, this is in theory and we do not have crystal balls.

Also the risk of injury (to be fair to both QBs) is real

Finally even if KM is good, what salary does he demand? $60mm a year or $40mm (Darnold with some inflation). So I think more than 50-50 but not much more.

I’d love to know what the Darnold markers were! Gotta imagine he surpassed them unless “win a playoff game” was at the top of the list.

It makes abundant sense to set criteria before the season of what success looks like.

JJMC is going into the third year of his rookie deal, and by next offseason there won't be enough "cheap" years left for it to be a material driver.

It would be really, really nice if passer rating and QBR were referred to correctly. Again, only the latter measures things like game context, rushing and sacks which are pretty important when it comes to evaluating how a QB performs. . .
