Yeah, he likes the pick for sure. Again, not saying I hate the pick or anything. For my money, he looks like a better player than the other WRs that were available. I would’ve gone elsewhere, but they needed a shorter range, YAC dude and he gives you some of that. I disagree with the Nailor comp because I don’t think Nailor gives you much in the way of YAC, broken tackles, etc. Nailor was a deep threat they had to teach to do some other stuff. This guy is the opposite of that it sounds like.
And that is my point. I think he knows a hell of a lot more of what will make a successful WR than we do. Of course he could be wrong but his track record is much better than mine.
So if there are 3 WRs there and he is all for #C…. Well then I will not second guess him
Don’t hate the pick, but I would’ve preferred CJ West or Brashard Smith. Apparently Nate Tice and the guys he podcasts with comped Felton to Nailor, and I don’t really see that at all.
I like West too, though there are still very good DTs like Pegues, Jackson, and maybe even West if he falls below his 105 Consensus ranking today (Sikkema has West way up at 72, while Brugler has him down at 151...). Sam Monson framed Felton as extreme highs and lows. Said he saw a lot of drops (PFF numbers say he isn't bad on this, but never know which games Sam watched), but also that he had a lot of incredible plays. If you can eliminate the bad you have something special. Brugler said he had starting potential as well. (Haven't watched a minute of him, just passing on 2 guys I think actually watch the players in detail and know what they're talking about).
Yeah, the CJ West DT spot is probably easier to find later on, so I get passing on him. Felton looks like he can catch and track the ball pretty well to me, so wouldn’t be surprised if he cleans up the drops. Contested catch issues are probably harder to fix. Between him and Moore, I feel alright about them finally getting some shorter yardage stuff going.
RB for me is Brashard Smith. Maybe Jaydon Blue. Change of pace guy who can go out for a pass regularly if needed. Not up on the safeties remaining but I’d probably like Ransom from what I saw. Like Farmer at DT. High character guy the consensus has pretty high for where we’re at in the draft.
I didn't look at receivers much so I will hope for the upside scouts see, but I would have liked someone like Pat Bryant who went earlier. He was kind of Trent Sherfield-ey to me. A reliable, move the chains type who could block. Some talented and athletic guys in Addison, Moore, and now Felton and I get the main thing for them to be good at is receiving so maybe I'm nitpicking, but it'd be nice if someone in the entire receiving corps was an above average blocker besides Josh Oliver.
Listening to the pod from last night and Coller mentions that 3rd WRs don’t generally get into contested catch situations, which is a great point. Starting to like the pick more as I dive into it.
Also, the fact that someone took Xavier Watts right before their 97 pick was rough for me. I think that guy can be elite.
I love to watch the gunners. Important piece on special teams.
Matthew, for a pick like this, how much does the position coach`s (in the case the very talented Keenan McCardell) matter?
He seemed fine with the pick on the draft room clip they showed. I’m sure he was fine with it.
Matthew posted this but this is Grigson talking about the pick but spends a decent amount of time saying Keenan really, really likes Felton

Besides a West or Smith, who else are you hoping for today? My list is:
DTs - JJ Pegues, CJ West, Cam Jackson, Thor Griffith
CBs – Zah Frazier
Safeties (CB to S converts) – Zy Alexander, Tommi Hill, BJ Adams
TEs – Mitchell Evans, Luke Lachey
RBs – Jordan James, Tahj Brooks
Know the odds of Vikings taking even one of them is low, but that’s the fun.

I would prefer to know Keenan McCardell`s opinion on which receiver they need more than Nate Tice`s opinion...
What we do not know is how much Keenan McCardell`s counts in the decision making but I doubt it is zero
