So...Is the Zimmer version of [My Way] the Sinatra classic or is it the Sid Vicious punk version? They certainly poured FA cash into the defense but they drafted a lot for offense (though you are right that OL take a couple of years so next year we will probably having a cracking OL unit... And while the OL unit is cheap in cash terms but pretty darn expensive in draft capital the last 3 years...

The irony of this line >Though we may never get an answer concerning what Cousins and the offense might look like on a passing juggernaut team.

Is that if the OL improves in 2022 (young guys getting experience) it might be a year too late to judge Cousins...

100% on the two kinds of capital--the likely starters are, by round, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 3rd, 2nd. That's a material investment. On D, the issue isn't ignoring the draft, it's that Gladney (scumbag) and Hughes (health) are busts for non-skill reasons, hence the need for PP and Breeland.

There are two basic ways to improve an offence: change the players or change the play calling. JJ and Thielen had 125 and 108 targets last year, respectively. Compare that to the '00 Broncos--when passing was much harder for myriad reasons--and Smith/McCaffrey had 173/149. This offence doesn't have to underuse its best players.

We'll see what this year looks like, but on the whole it's unreliable to draw any conclusions from the results of 16 game schedule. Play last year 100 times, and are there 30+ versions where Bailey is accurate, Barr, Kendricks and Hunter are healthy, and the Vikings win 12? Now, if JJ and Theilen have less than 250 targets again, that's something to criticize.

What is the assessment of Patrick Peterson after seeing him in practice in terms of his health and current athletic abilities. Has he "lost a step"? Is he close to his prime? Where does he stand?

Hey Jon... Peterson looked pretty spry during minicamp. How that actually translates is hard to say but he was moving around well. He admits that he didn’t have a good year last season so that’s always a bit of a red flag but he isn’t that far removed from when he was very good in AZ. He and Zimmer seem to be getting along really well

There was some analysis done (I forget who) and basically his outside CB numbers were decent but his slot numbers were pretty bad.... Given Mac Alexander is back and Hand as well (no point in counting on Gladney) my guess is Zimmer will do the obvious and keep PP on the outside and maybe shade a safety if facing somebody really fast....

I prefer acknowledging the bad year to being in denial, but there's a reason he was available on a 1 year deal.

From a health perspective, the only games he's ever missed were for suspension. The injury rate in the NFL is 100% (e.g. Joe Thomas never missed a snap, until he did), but I don't see any reason to be concerned about Peterson's health.
