Whenever I think of a coach on the hot seat, for some reason this scene pops into my mind...Kind of describes the Vikings season pretty well

With our luck they’ll fire Rick and Zimmer and we’ll get the next Adam Gase and Mike Lynn.

But this is the problem for the Wilf`s... Zimmer is at least an average coach and while I think it is time for him to go there is the real possibility you an do worse. And even more for Spielman.... I think he is a pretty good GM, most likely in the top 10 (he does have his faults). Not obvious you will do better.... The Vikings really got screwed by Teddy losing his leg....And the Cousins contract.... It is not "bad". It is just that is what the going rate for a decnt but not great QB is.

I think it is time for Zimmer to go but worry a Spielman replacement will not be any better

I agree Zimmer is at least an average coach with clock management issues. I run hot and cold about whether I want the Vikings to let either of them go at the end of this season.

Spiel man had to pay market price for a starting QB because he wiffed twice on drafting one, that is one of my primary complaints about him….Teddy’s knee not withstanding.

Retrospectively they should have signed Case and Teddy in 2018 and tried to run it back with that group and if it didn’t work start all over.

Really, no matter how this season ends that probably what the Vikings should do, cut the aging vets or trade whoever they can and rebuild.

The problem with Teddy was nobody was really sure about the knee. In hindsight, getting him at $22mm a season for a few years would have been nice because of the saved money.... But hard to fault Spielman for the move at the time. As far as I have read, Spielman went over the possibilities with Zimmer and the Wilfs in detail with the pros and cons of each.... I think hard to criticize Spielman with the Teddy pick though (Ponder is obviously a fail). I do question though the need to cut many veterans (for example our recently DL acquisitions).... Unless you are going for a two year tank job I just don`t see it.

Griff and Richardson are on one year deals (I’m not sure who else off the top of my head)

I wanted Case for two more years after that 2017 season, if it didn’t work out then a rebuild was in order.

Richardson will be gone... Griff, if at $1-2mm a year should be on the team given he still has some gas in the tank. Understood about Case....

As long as they do not get the actual Adam Gase!
