If Wilson is the best player on the board you have to take him. He would help keep the porous defense off the field. Hopefully they'll decide to move on from Cook Smith sometime to create more cap room.
Not sure I am against a WR in the first, but neither I am particularly for it. I mean basically BPA (but adjusting for positional value as well) so DB, DE, WR (of course QB but I think with the Kirk extension, unless you think you can get a solid starter, I am not sure why you would not wait until next year. I get the point that WRs can get up to speed quicker, but I do not see the point of picking a WR unless you think he is materially better than other potential picks. I agree going out of your way to pick a position of need is foolish unless you have the player line up with your need (ie, Darrisaw at pick 23 last year where he probably was one of the your top guys left on the board, has great positional value (LT) and by chance you needed an LT).

Now that my Willis dream is dead (sniff)
I’m onboard with a playmaker WR in Round 1.
Thelien has been injured the last couple of years and as you Pointed out Paul, he’s started to age.
