I must be missing a philosophical point. Yes, the team was making an interesting resurgence, but I don’t believe we have the complete talent to get to the Super Bowl. Why bring in a veteran QB to bring us to a .500ish season and once again, a mid-draft picking position? Look to the future. Play Hall, get a top five-ten picking position and draft a young, cheap QB of the future.

I’m with you, no need to a Rick like panic trade for a QB.

Play Hall, trade Hunter...build for the future

I love Brian but this article was idiotic. He name drops Freeman but still believes bringing in a broken Matt Ryan, a mistake prone (and costly Winston, a foolish Wentz, etc will help the team more than two guys who’ve been learning and playing in the system the entire year? Sorry, Brian, but you not only struck out here but you earned the golden sombrero. This was read almost as if you’re still a Lions fan. “What can I write that’ll hurt the team the most?” You’ve done it. Congratulations?

Murph’s right. Some of us - including the human players that make up the team and actually need to perform and be motivated as opposed to being chess pieces to be gleefully paid as little as possible and set up to fail only to magically snap back to success - don’t want to auto-sim entire years of our lives on supposedly genius approach to tanking and drafting that every other team is also aware of. The armchair twitter GMs think life is Madden and the draft is the superbowl.

Way too attached to highly uncertain draft outcomes and always pushing the can down the road in pursuit of some perfect roster with rookie pay QB winning the superbowl, which has happened maybe twice ever (and the Chiefs traded UP after a successful season to get Mahomes, but heaven forbid we trade away future fifth round picks.)

So, how can a new quarterback come in and be the savior you seem to think he can be? I’m glad the GM and coach agree with me considering they traded all of a sixth for a seventh and Dobbs. Trading assets for a dream isn’t smart business. Sorry if this move wasted more of your football life.

Not a buyer of this.... Unless you get a deal changing QB (Brady) your plan just pisses away money and or draft capital.. You know how SF got Bosa? Jimmy G got hurt and instead of panicking, SF sucked up the bad year and got a high draft pick (which they used on Bosa). I am not a fan of tanking for tanking sake but we have a lot of good young players. That said, the stars have aligned for a tank. So set up the team for future success, bite the bullet and lets create a dynasty. Getting a vet to be mediocre is about the worst idea possible.

Roll with Hall. Find out what they have in him, as well as what they have in the rest of the roster and how they respond.

Hall could turn out to be another Purdy, who apparently has excelled with talent around him and the coaching staff, which the Vikings definitely have. If Hall can play, great. Maybe they can focus on bolstering defense in the draft. If Hall struggles, they’ll just have more holistic view of the roster reconstruction.

It's just that post-Cousins era came 9 games (or more?) early. The Vikings eventualally had to find their exit plan from Kirk anyways. Kirk has been great and I’m saddened he went down with a significant injury. But he is also 35 years old.

If we trade for veteran help, it just shows this team will be forever stuck in the middle.

Great take. I liked it after the 1st sentence.

Bringing in a QB from the outside at this point seems rather shortsighted. It would take the rest of the season for him to master the playbook. It took Kirk quite a while. Luckily he had all of the 2022 preseason.

I'm definitely done guessing what they will do next. I guess I'm finally ready to let it be what it will be. (The reality it should probably be for every fan anyway since we have zero control and never did or will.) 🤷‍♀️

Previously we had to get rid of Cousins to win anything. Now he is irreplaceable. We can't go anywhere with the backup.....the veterans deserve better.

I know you have to have things to write about....but sports writers are just as bad as political writers.

They write what people will read...........that's it......

Go ahead and bring in whomever you can get as another backup. But you have this backup for a reason.......use him.

I think they should bring in Carson Wentz, if he is interested.
