Mike Zimmer is a good coach and I’ll miss him. Go back to your fantastic ranch, sit in that impressive chair and write a book! Let it all out! Blue sky and tailwinds Coach…
Both Rick & Mike being gone was needed…everything was stale and a fresh set of eyes is needed to decide if Kirk is worth staying longterm. Please please please let Mike Zimmer do a press conference as he might go scorched earth
I liked Zimmer as a coach. I liked Spielman as a GM. I think odds are against replacing both of them with someone who is better. I also think that whoever made the decision to extend Cousins needed to go. Most likely it was both of them, so here we are. Kirk just represents QB purgatory, not bad but definitely not good. If they do all of this and run Cousins back out there next year they should expect the same reaction from fans that they got week 16 & 18, indifference and hopelessness.
Surprised but yeah, I think Rick had to go too. This was a house of cards roster. So many missteps in the building. Perpetual bad OL, one year fill-ins, trading Hughes for basically nothing, some really bad drafts, Ngakoue. And they’ve handcuffed next year still paying roster debts pushed to the future from the last few years. Long term success needs a long term plan.
I understand and agree that this change (as well as Rick) needed to happen. The final nail with Zimmer, in my opinion, was the defensive failure of the last two seasons. That being said, the team will be fortunate if their next hire will be as good as the Mike Zimmer they got from 2014-2017. That fact, of course, does not mean the team didn't a change. It will be interesting to see how the Wilfs approach the hiring process. Here's one vote saying it won't be as easy as the "paint by numbers" approach so many Twitter experts are suggesting.
Could hardly agree more, though I’d throw OC meddling at the top of my list. Hope the QB/HC/GM/OC roll of the dice comes up Yahtzee. Doubtful. I do think the Wilfs are sufficient owners so at least one piece is right.
I might be more happy with Spielman getting canned. Don’t get me wrong I wanted both gone. But I thought Spielman would make it…it’s time for a new era. At least now we can have a bit of excitement surrounding this franchise!
Seriously, no idea. I liked Dungy before he left, seemed to get a lot out of the players he had. Tomlin too. Almost certainly has to be offensive guy, can’t have bashing heads there. Beyond that above my pay grade. If you want a laugh go back and look at what pundits said about hires the last few years. People loved Judge, hated LaFluer… it’s a crapshoot. Trends toward crap sadly. I refuse to get excited till the rubber hits the road. Till then it’s all talk.

A good wrap up analysis of the Zimmer/Spielman era. Now we can get on the business of rebuilding the Vikings to being competitive and entertaining.
Thanks Matthew and Sam. Kirk now has to restructure or traded. I definitely think everyone will need to buy a program because more will not return.

Alright who does everyone want as GM/HC?
Give me Will McClay and Kellen Moore and do everything you can to get Fangio to be the DC
Seems JWall is the obvious choice for both. Took the Lions all the way 😂.
