I really love football. I really dislike some football fans. The calls of busts and wasted year and all that after the second game is just garbage takes.
JJ has "potential", unfortunately so have many, many players that never reached their potential. I've been a Vike's fan for 50+ years and watching the last 2 games was brutal. I've always favored drafting players who had a lot of tape showing they could play at a high level. No fault of JJ, but he had very limited throws in college to gauge whether he would be a good NFL QB. Accuracy in throwing is very important, but maybe JJ will learn accuracy? Or not.
Nice article Mathew 👍🏻 my panic level is a little lower with Wentz that it would've been with Sam Howell but this season full of great expectations could go south in a hurry.
Now that I’ve had a chance to let it digest for a minute, I agree it is very likely not a benching in disguise. Will his poor play impact how quickly they decide to bring him back? Probably. I really can’t get myself to a place where I see Carson Wentz taking this team anywhere, so personally I want to see McCarthy play. If McCarthy just flat out stinks, that completely blows up your 1-3 year window and you probably have to consider tearing it down (within reason) to reset your timeline for winning a Super Bowl.
It seems Matthew that you are strongly backing away from all the over exuberance on JJM since last year’s playoff loss. The entire MN media has possibly overs-sold JJM’s abilities. 7 on 7 perfection does not translate into NFL success.

On the bright side... No need for Sam Howell questions

Grim...Is this Matthew's audition for one of the talking head shows?

They need to right the ship before the season is totally sunk. Wentz has the experience and this is a great opportunity for him. SKOL!
