Gambling is a really weird minefield. Players can't bet on their own teams and can't bet while on team property but then the league has sports betting houses as sponsors. You can't read anything about any sport and not be inundated with betting info or commercials of some type or another.
If Flores is right the Vikings don't need to draft a CB with their first pick in the 2025 draft. There is a grater need at left offensive guard and at safety. Flores knowledge and skill is essential for the Vikings success. We are lucky to have him and KOC as coaches. SKOL!
Little wary about crowning Flores as the scouting god (not familiar with exactly what his track record there was in NE), but it’s hard not to be optimistic about guys he likes. I think a big chunk of it is just having a great scheme and putting players in positions to do things they are actually good at. It isn’t like Pace suddenly became a better coverage LB. He’s still pretty bad at it. Flores just created a scheme where that wasn’t a huge liability.
The idea of creating a scheme to fit the players sounds like it should be a no-brainer but as we saw with Donatell it's not always utilized. Flores took pretty much the same players who Donatell had and made it work far better. There's the old coach adage that "he'll take his and beat yours and then take yours and beat his. Flores is one of those guys.
I enjoy players with stories, I might like the stories better than the game. Rodgers story has potential for redemption. I apologize for my view on sports betting, it’s everywhere and has the potential to ensnare young players and put them in legal jeopardy. The leagues are all for another revenue stream not a good example for the kids that make the game possible.
We have an interesting CB room is that it might be really good (Blackmon and McGlothern definitely have potential) but we really do not know.
Minor factoid, McGlothern played 20 snaps on defense but graded out at 80.5... Yeah I know very small sample size but there is the hint the whiff (or will if be merely a wiff) of competence in being above 80.
