I was happy when we got Jefferson, was the stud of a loaded wr room at LSU last year. He is just so much better than I expected tho. Yes small sample size, but his juice is elite. Progress from the corners, at least had some pbu’s. Even if was just 1 play, Samia’s combo block on Mattison’s TD was awesome. Glad we won. Sad as a football fan for Watson. What a waste. BO’B has got to go for the love of the game.
I’m not surprised the Vikings waited to start Jefferson. Not only did he miss the normal preseason training and games as others did, he also had to sit out extra days because of Covid. And while he’s now clearly superior to Bisi (who injured his knee at the beginning of the season), the Vikings needed to know that their rookie receiver could read coverages and run routes correctly. Like everyone I rejoice in JJ’s success so far, but I guess I trust the Vikings’ experienced professional coaches to make good decisions. Important to note: these same execs and coaches drafted Jefferson, so they weren’t exactly blind to his talent. Some franchises have clearly hired the wrong execs and coaches, and they probably deserve the Monday morning (Sunday evening) naysayers. I respectfully contend that the Vikings are doing things the right way. But I also concede that 2021 looks a lot more promising than 2020, and I think that’s because they went all in on 2019 and now need to reset their cap situation.
Since the loss to Indy, the Vikings have shown improvement. The kids in the secondary are getting better by the game and yes, they got torched late in the game for a long one that made the outcome a question mark, but I liked the aggressiveness (or did I like the lack of tentativeness) that was evident in Weeks 1-3. Either way, a good outcome.
This Tank for Trevor plaything is/was a nonsensical, kind of fun, sidebar. No player on a Mike Zimmer-coached team is ever going to lay down or roll over, no matter what the odds. I look forward to Seattle and I expect Vikings fans will see a team that will fight for 60 minutes, and longer, if needed.
Justin Jefferson has won over Matthew Coller, and he isn’t the only fellow or gal Justin J has won over in the swirling Vikings Galaxy. It’s fun to know that it took the Vikings two games to find a receiver that may match, or exceed, the ability of S. Diggs. They now have two legitimate threats again at wide receiver. That didn’t take long, did it?
After suffering through Patterson and Treadwell, Jefferson is such a breath of fresh air. The kid totally changes how opposing teams attempt to defend the Vikings which opens things up for Thielen and Cook. Now about those TEs. I was told the TEs were gonna be a thing this season. Are we still doing that? I think we need a pie chart of blame. On defense, I'm reluctant to take any improvement at face value against a bad Texans team. On the surface however it seemed like an improvement from the young guys not named Hill. Look forward to your analysis Matthew.
Yeah, Irv smith has how many catches for how many yards??? Hey has had some good blocks though. Agree on defense assessment, but it was against Texans. Interesting to see Wonnum get a bunch of play time.
In 4 games, Jefferson has almost half as many yards (348 vs 701) as Laquan has in 53 games. He also has 16 catches vs Treadwell's 65.
Let that sink in.
