You do have to feel bad for McCarthy. You also have to plan on somebody else being QB next year, but you do have to feel bad. I’ll never ask the team to let go of a QB of Darnold’s caliber again. Keeping Darnold is quickly rocketing to the top of Vikings’ What If lore, and that isn’t easy to do.

The funny thing: back in August, I don't remember anyone--not a beat writer, not a national writer, not an online film assessor, not a bartender--saying JJMC has "serious issues with his technical throwing ability." There has been a massive regression since those joint practices, and now he can't stay healthy either.

Things have gotten dismal in a hurry.

I took the question of how sitting McCarthy might affect his development, not his mental state. Roussini clearly has a contact that objects to the majority decision making in the Vikings and isn't shy about running with it, no matter how divorced from reality.

I would be shocked if Max looks as bad as JJ looked. JJ is going through something that is a nightmare...and rare. He will come out of it.....someday.

But -- If you throw on-time, it is easy to complete a pass in football these days. 50% is a terrible completion rate....as evidence to that. But you have to throw on-time...thus trusting your people running the routes.

Max will be serviceable...not great of course....but certainly better than JJ has....as any QB would.
