Far too many low information fans want instant gratification. Those fans take the outliers as the standard and it's just not that way. The kid is 21 years old.
Instant gratification and measurable data are different things.
Absent a rash of injuries, Turner shouldn't get any starts this year. One shouldn't expect big sack numbers for a rookie, either. The problem is that he's not getting any snaps--and one doesn't spend two 1sts of draft capital for a ST player. It's a cop-out to suggest that the defence is too complicated and Turner would have to learn coverages. Good coaching manifests itself in finding ways to put talented players in position to succeed, not finding reasons to keep them off the field.
It's already Hallowe'en, this is a legitimate concern now; of course, this may change over the course of the year. If it doesn't, that's a flashing red light.
Based on the game flows thus far, the snap count is not a concern. His current role is as a 3rd down rush specialist. Given that lack of 3rd and longs over the last 2 weeks, plus missing a game for injury the low snap count is relatively easy to explain. Also, the draft capital argument is warped by the prior trade for the second 1st. The two moves should be evaluated separately.
The Rams had 66 plays on offence. 26 of them were 2nd and long or 3rd and long. Stafford was not sacked, so it's not as if Flores was sticking with the hot hands, either. If all of that doesn't warrant concern, it begs the question what it would take, an amputation?
Agreed it is hard to take snaps away from Van Ginkel and Greenard.... But would hope he can start taking chunks out of Pat Jones....

So, if we consider 3rd and 7 plus to be 3rd and long, the Rams faced a total of eight 3rd and longs.
Of those, the longest was a 3rd and 18 where the Rams ran the ball. Another was the last play of the game.
That cuts the sample size to six plays.
Far too small to panic.
My count was based on play by play data from profootballreference.
