2. I think most people misunderstand the Dallas turn pick in terms of capital given up. There were 2 different moves.
A. Vikings got an additional first round pick from Houston I think. It was an overpay but the purpose of it was to potentially trade up for a QB (and so we could send 3 1st round picks if necessary).
B. The draft day trade moving up to get Dallas
To me, the first trade (to get that 1st rounder) had nothing to do with Turner. Once can criticize as an over pay, but once it was done... It was done..
The draft day trade, on the other hand, was specifically to get Turner (and so those assets should be considered in the draft cost of Turner.
That said, pretty excited to see what does this year. He seems like he has a very good head on his (now somewhat thicker) shoulders.
Beats the drama of the Bengals and Shemar Stewart!
KAM is responsible for what he effectively left the house with, and what he came back with. He started with X in draft capital, and received only Y in return for it. 2025 was easily KAM's best offseason, which is great. His previous work was open to material criticism, which was deserved, but it's history now. Hopefully the 2025 offseason decisions result in playoff wins.
From a team evaluation standpoint, it was a bad rookie season for a 1st rounder, but that's also history now. Turner--like every player--bears no responsibility for where he's drafted. Hopefully he makes a leap this year; he is only 22.
As for CBs, it doesn't make sense to add anyone now. If there is an injury/underperformance in camp, it would be prudent to pivot then.

I think that is overstating it. Clearly it was not great but I think
A. They were not counting on him last year to do too much (given we literally had 2 pro bowl palyers in the same position)
B. His stats were not bad given he saw limited playing time
C. He clearly improved over the season
D. OLBs historically take time get used to the NFL and produce
E. Kid was 21
Of course I am not saying he had a great rookie year, but it was not bad... Slightly underwhelming but the intriguing elements seems fairer.
The history of materially trading up for non-QBs is what it is, but we can agree to disagree on that point. It was a bad decision to make the trade with Houston so far in advance and without having the framework for a second deal in place.
It's just fine for a rookie to not take reps from Greenard and the Dutchman. What's a bad sign is the 900+ snaps that especially Jones, and Ward, had. Turner was OLB5. Now, if Turner was a third/fourth round pick, that changes the perception from a team evaluation standpoint, but he wasn't. OLB5 is a bad year for a 1st rounder.
From the player perspective, Turner's story isn't written, it's just getting started. There is reason for optimism and roster opportunity. Fingers crossed.
Feel like Flo’s talent ID ability for defensive players is on the level of ol’ Denny Green for offensive players. Think what you want about Denny but he could find some players. Then back to Grant-Reichow.
It is interesting that we all expect the team to be as good as we do when they have this many “bets”, both on offense and defense. I think the confidence is justified, but between Blackmon, Rodgers, Jackson, Turner, McCarthy, and the older DL and OL they picked up, there are quite a few spots on the team where we’re expecting players to either return to form or show us something they haven’t shown up to this point.
A couple of thoughts
1. Dwight McGlothern fan here.
