It was a crappy deal... And KAM has set himself up as a somebody who trades poorly (fair or not). A very bad look for a rookie GM.
I have no argument with the pick though.
Ridder makes no sense at 34. If you wanted Ridder use the 32 pick and get the fifth round option. We are not going QB this year.
Theoretically edge should be picked over CB but we have a bunch of edge guys that probably need a year of evaluation (Janarius Robinson and Patrick Jones II) and obviously CB class room is thin.
WR would not be a surprise nor a small trade down.
I think KAMKOM (with heavy pressure from the WILFs) are given a year to see what can be done with the Vikings as they are presently constructed and then decide to blow it up or not... So no need to get a QB if one keeps Cousins for another 3 years (ie if they like him he can be extended and if not get the qb of the future
He is better than mediocre. He is a good qb overall and can be excellent with good protection. His salary is fair value (and far from the most expensive QB around). Of course a mediocre to average QB on a rookie salary would have huge advantages
I didn’t mind the trade down but thought it was too far and compensation was heavily slanted towards Detroit.
Prefer CB/Edge at 32 and either Willis or Ridder at 34.

You’re correct that if the Vikings wanted a QB they should have picked that position at 32 to get the 5th year option.
I want a rookie QB and cap relief from Kirk next year.

Obviously I wasn’t enamored with the first extend, or the most recent
Kirk is who he is at this point in his career
I can always hope the Vikings see past their own mediocrity at QB

We’re going to have to agree to disagree on Kirk’s value, I’m at work so my ability to read and respond is limited.
I do appreciate being able to read your ideas and occasionally disagree in a respectful manner.
13/10 would have a beverage and nachos with you and complain about the Vikings.
