Super frustrating game for a lot of reasons. It was a winnable game even if they did not outplay their opponent like they did in the eagles game. The return fumble, which was due the way that Myles has played, might have been tough to recover from, but I still feel like they win the game if they just run the fricking ball on short yardage and bring down McCarthy’s average depth of target a couple of clicks. The stats are there staring them in the face, they brought in a whole slew of players that seemed specifically geared toward running the ball in short yardage situations, and he still can’t bring himself to do it. Send KOC to passers anonymous. He can’t help himself.
I think the title of this article says it all and had me nodding my head as I clicked to open. While these games are hits to the heart and mind, I am still perfectly willing to be patient with McCarthy. Hundreds of hours worth of listening and reading PI have helped me learn to emotionally regulate my quarterback patience. I just wish we could fast forward ahead a bit to see meaningful progress and I would feel better.
All of the flawed schematic tendencies laid out by Matthew within this article seem like they’d obviously come to the surface in any attempt at a basic self-scout. Unless the coach making the calls is too hard-headed. We know KOC’s offense can work, but great coaches adapt to the players’ strengths/weaknesses, and that does not appear to be happening as much as it needs to with a very young, inexperienced and, to this point, inaccurate QB.
It is frustrating because the Vikings have some very good talent. I don’t know if McCarthy is legit, time will tell. We all want instant gratification, it’s sad to see Justin Jefferson’s talent wasted. I enjoy watching a team being built, there are a lot of teams that never come together. I hope the Vikings are able to.
I don't mind the deep shot on 3rd and one with Jefferson in one on one - QBs and receivers dream of that opportunity. When is a gotta have it play though later, I would've like them to run. All nitpicks though when your QB is playing at the bottom of the NFL. Not going to win any games when JJ is playing that way, regardless of the playcall.

Patience is impossible in football but maybe that’s the place it’s most virtuous... wonderfully worded, Coller. Onto Week 11!
Absolutely 💯 nauseated. Great article Mathew 👏
You are who your win loss record says you are
